Staying with complexity without losing the people
On moving at the speed where relationship can still carry the truth of a situation.
There is a speed at which a room can still hear itself think, and a speed at which it can't. Most of the pressure in complex work — the deadline, the funder's timeline, the anxious sponsor who wants an answer by Friday — pushes toward the second. The work of holding complexity well is largely the work of finding and protecting the first.
